So many therapists are stuck in a rut… Struggling to achieve consistent results and struggling to grow their clinic. They feel more isolated than ever. But if you think this is just a fact of life, or just how our work is meant to be then you’re wrong.
As of right now, we have had over 700 therapists worldwide come through the mentorship. That is 700 therapists getting real consistent results with thousands of people in pain. And one of those is David Grey of David Grey Rehab.
I won’t ever lie and say that building a successful clinic is easy. But that is what makes our mentorship success stories mean so much. Today I want to share one of those success stories…
So, read on to find out where David Grey is now, how he got there, and how the mentorship helped him…
Mentorship Success Stories
If I hadn’t have gone into physiotherapy I was actually considering becoming a teacher. Let that sink in… ‘Mr. Dave O’Sullivan’ sat in a classroom in front of 30-odd children.
The truth is, I never looked back after making my move into physiotherapy and elite performance sports. But the career move didn’t change the way I feel about helping others.
See, I’ve been in that same position as so many other therapists. I’ve struggled to get consistent results. After leaving the world of professional sports, I struggled to build my own private practice. I wanted that financial freedom for me and my family. I just wanted to take control.
I spent so much time and money on CPD courses, training programs, and videos. I thought all this knowledge was going to change things. I learned more about anatomy, rib cage mobility, and breath work, but really I was always searching for these ‘magic bullet’ exercises.
Things only changed when I started to make these links. Once I started to build my own system it all didn’t seem so daunting. And that is what drove me to set up the Go-To Therapist Mentorship Program. I knew therapists needed another way to work and I wanted to share my approach.
This is what makes our mentorship success stories so important. It makes everything worthwhile… And David Grey of David Grey Rehab is one of those stories.
Opening David Grey Rehab
So what is David Grey up to now? Well…
A few years back David Grey opened the David Grey Rehab clinic. Working within the Waterford area of Ireland and with patients across the world, David helps athletes and everyday people achieve their true potential, take control of their body, and live a pain-free life.
Today David Grey and the David Grey Rehab clinic have a serious reputation. He has therapists working alongside him and runs what I see as one of the Go-To Clinics and physio services in Ireland. He and his team deliver the highest quality rehabilitation to those in need and he even finds the time to coach other therapists.
But I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying that it wasn’t always that clear-cut for him. He wasn’t always the biomechanics specialist and rehab expert he is today…
Where did it all start?
Where It All Started For David Grey
The journey David took all started with an injury. He was a keen athlete but injuries and pain seemed to plague him.
David went from one therapist to another trying to find an answer but quickly became frustrated with traditional ‘solutions’ and rehabilitation.
He spent the next ten years traveling the world, listening to some of the best therapists, learning from mentors and coaches in movement, gymnastics, and martial arts, taking course after course, and looking for that key to long-lasting results and rehabilitation.
After some time in Australia David flew back to work at his brother’s gymnastics center. He was seeing come clients and wanted to develop as a therapist but, as he says, ‘I didn’t know if I wanted to commit to doing this full time myself or if even people would care’.
At this point, David met someone who had done the mentorship. He looked at some of the content and principles and it all ‘made sense’.
The First Phone Call
When people first get in touch about the mentorship we always hop on a strategy call. It’s just a chance to get to know the therapist and see how we can help. But this first consultation can seem like a big step and David had his reservations.
I’m naturally skeptical of people that are actually are selling things but when I saw the contents or spoke to people and things like that, it looked really good. I just wanted to jump on a call. Once I jumped on the call, I knew I was going to join up with you but I suppose it helps to just speak to someone. And yeah, I’m glad I did. – David Grey of David Grey Rehab
Piecing It All Together In One Simple System
The one thing I never want therapists to do when they come into the mentorship is turning their back on everything else they have learned. Whether it was at university or on courses. We want to use that previous knowledge.
You may not agree with some things but if they’re getting some results then you can’t turn your back. You have to be aware of its importance. You have to use it.
When he came to the mentorship David Grey was very movement-focused, he was working with the foot, he had done a lot of courses and programs so when I asked why the mentorship was different it made it was an interesting reaction…
The mentorship helped me make sense of some of the stuff that I was seeing that maybe I wasn’t putting together as well as it could have. So like seeing courses coming from different angles, but then the principles of why something works or why you’re seeing something with someone. Because obviously you’ve been on so many courses and you’re very experienced, you’ve started to take some principles or maybe you have some overarching principles. That’s how I see it. – David Grey of David Grey Rehab
The Most Valuable Part
Everyone has their key takeaways from any training and I’m always asking our mentorship therapists for theirs. In fact, some probably don’t want to listen to me asking them again….
But I’m always updating the mentorship. I want it to be on the next level for every therapist. I want to coach them and I want them to coach me so we can keep improving.
‘That has been one of the most valuable things, being able to systemise it and make a plan with someone in their first session, because it just makes sense when someone can see the plan everything changes for them. That has been huge for me and my clients’ – David Grey of David Grey Rehab
Lower Body Basics Program
After finishing the mentorship Dave has gone on to produce his own rehabilitation training including the Lower Body Basics program, taking the principles of the mentorship, combining them with other courses he had done with the rib cage and foot, integrating them into his own step-by-step system.
This is a huge achievement whilst still running his own clinic, working with athletes and coaches in Ireland and around the world. He doesn’t show any sign of stopping….
Take The First Step Today
David grey and the David Grey Rehab clinic is just one of the many success stories I see on a daily basis. I can’t pretend the Mentorship did everything for him, there was a lot of hard work, training, and focus but to be able to help him on his journey is what we’re here for.
But whenever I see these therapists face-to-face or see their work on Facebook or Youtube it all comes together. These aren’t just success stories. These are real therapists getting real consistent results with even the most complex of cases. It is therapists all over the world helping thousands of people in pain.
Those people are leaving that feeling of isolation behind. They’re taking on more clients, taking more in revenue, they’re hiring their own team of therapists, they’re creating their very own go-to clinic and building the reputation they deserve.
