It’s 9:47 PM on a Tuesday in early 2016. I sat in my empty clinic doing admin work and realised something that made my stomach turn.

In late 2016, I got a phone call to ask me to be the Head Physio for the England Rugby League team in the 2017 World Cup. Only one problem, it meant leaving the clinic for 8 weeks
In early 2017, I received the call every sports physio dreams of.
England Rugby League. World Cup year. Would I join the team as Head Physio?
There was just one problem: I'd be gone for 8+ weeks during the tournament, potentially on the other side of the world.
If my clinic couldn't run without me, I'd return to ruins.
This constraint forced me to create something that had never existed before in my practice... or in any physio clinic I knew of.
I had six months to build a system that would:

The turning point came when I stopped trying to force my therapists to "sell" more sessions using those awful scripts.

I realised that reassurance really is a painkiller – and having a clear plan IS the start of treatment.

The Ultimate Test: World Cup Pressure

In Melbourne, Australia for the first World Cup Game of the 2017 tournament. I was 16,924 km away from my clinic and it was running without me for the first time
September 2017. I flew to Australia not knowing if I'd have a clinic to return to.
For 8+ weeks, my business operated without me. Different time zones. Different hemispheres.
Ultimate pressure.
The result?
We made the World Cup final. And while I was celebrating with the England team, my clinic didn't just survive – it grew.
Every therapist was accountable to patients, themselves, and the clinic. I could coach remotely when needed (which was rarely needed) and sleep peacefully knowing our reputation was protected.
The prison had finally become a REAL business.
From World Cups to COVID:
The System Evolves

I went on leave the clinic for multiple weeks at a time to attend the 2019 World Cup in Japan, Six Nations tournaments and the Rugby Championships in Australia and World Cup again in France in 2023
After I got back from Australia in late 2017, I had a new sense of freedom. I was able to take on even more pro sport consultancy roles and got the call from England Rugby Union just before the 2019 World Cup Campaign.
This gave me the opportunity to further refine the system travelling all over Japan with England and then again, with the Wallabies in 2023.
Each time, the clinic continued growing while I worked on the other side of the world.
When COVID hit and the cost of living skyrocketed, making profit became nearly impossible again.
So the system had to evolve further.
